Set along the north shore of Town Lake and a stone’s throw away from the emerging Second Street Retail District will reside a new, upscale hotel sure to become an Austin trademark.
The Seaholm Plaza Hotel will feature 160 guest rooms, two restaurants, a bar and a pavilion and rooms for special occasions and private meetings. Such features will be complimented with a potpourri of upscale amenities spa services, richly landscaped gardens and a heated pool.
The hotel will play a crucial role in the rebirth of the Seaholm site, which features a historic 1950s structure slated for redevelopment. As part of the new plan for the 7.8-acre site, the Seaholm Plaza Hotel will facilitate the success of Seaholm as a social and retail hub for Austin.
The hotel’s architecture follows the popular styles of theaters and restaurants of the Art Deco period, and will be loyal to the materials used by its namesake-neighbor, such as metal and concrete.
Slated to open early 2010, the Seaholm Plaza Hotel’s guest rooms will feature breathtaking views of Town Lake, the Texas Hill Country or the downtown skyline. Rooms will also offer feather pillow-top mattresses, down duvet covers, Egyptian cotton linens, and a private balcony or bay window. High tech amenities – such as flat-screen televisions, wireless Internet connectivity, multi-line cordless phones and DVD players – will also be included in each room.
The location of The Seaholm Plaza is second to none, with the Town Lake hike and bike trail just steps away and while downtown’s best shopping and signature neighborhoods and restaurants are within walking distance. The site is also blocks away from Austin’s City Hall Complex, the world headquarters of Whole Foods and GSD&M
The Seaholm site will be served by direct trolley to the Austin Convention Center, Warehouse District, State Capitol, and University of Texas at Austin.
The spectacular Seaholm Plaza Hotel will combine Art Deco architecture with modern touches of elegance just north of the historic Seaholm structure in downtown Austin. It will occupy 6 floors of a 22-story residential tower. Meeting, exhibit and special-event space will also be available both in the hotel and in the historic structure, offering guests the option of holding functions inside or outdoors.
